For a protected board, the server stores an access check and encrypted data. It does not store your secret, the key that unlocks the text, or readable text.
No protection works differently: the text is sent to and stored on the server in readable form.
A six-digit PIN is convenient, but a strong passphrase or generated secure link is safer for sensitive text.
